About ColdFusion®

In January 1998, I started using Allaire® ColdFusion® (I got a CD of trial version of the software, v3.0 from my dedicated hosting company). In March 2001, Allaire and Macromedia® merged, with the combined company using the Macromedia name. According to Macromedia marketing materials, ColdFusion is "the rapid server scripting environment for creating rich internet applications", "with ColdFusion MX, you can build and deploy powerful web applications and web services with far less training time and fewer lines of code than ASP®, PHP®, and JSP®. " The current version as of this article is ColdFusion MX 6.1.

ColdFusion can be run on Windows® 98/ME/NT 4/2000/XP/Server 2003, Linux®, Solaris®, HP-UX®, and the AIX® operating system. Additionally, the developer version of ColdFusion MX Enterprise can be deployed on Mac® OS X when the J2EE® configuration is used. ColdFusion works in conjunction with several popular web servers including Microsoft® IIS, Netscape® Enterprise Server, iPlanet® Enterprise Server, Apache®, and ColdFusion MX's standalone web server.

Try CFMX FREE

If you want to try it for FREE, you can download the latest version of ColdFusion MX from the Macromedia Web site, at http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=coldfusion  . ColdFusion MX 6.1 Developer Edition is a perpetual license with complete functional capabilities but is limited for low volume non-production deployments. The Trial Edition is fully functional and intended for simulated production and evaluation purposes only. The Trial Edition will timeout after 30 days from the time you install the product. After the timeout period the Trial Edition will revert to the Developer Edition.

This is a fully functional server with all of the Enterprise version features. At the end of the 30 day trial, the Trial Edition becomes the Developer Edition. At any time, full commercial deployment capabilities for an existing trial or developer edition installation can be activated by simply inserting a valid serial number for ColdFusion MX Standard 6.1 or ColdFusion MX Enterprise 6.1, without the need to perform a re-install.

That is to say, if you don't have a registered version, you still can use it at your own computer for evaluation purpose to try my CFMX script.

ColdFusion Hosting

Also you can run it at your own webserver, so long as your hosting company supports CFML.
